WHAT WE ARE BUILDING
A placement with an expiry date.
We do not sell goods, take commission, hold stock, or move money. What we hold is the term, and its value is that it runs out without anyone invoking it.
- Day 1AgreedWhich pieces, what split, and the date it ends.
- Month 2Sales recordedEach sale lands against the placement as it happens.
- Month 5Still runningNeither side has to do anything to keep it alive.
- Month 6LapsesCustody of unsold work reverts. Nobody sends anything.
Nothing has to be sent, signed, or asked for on the final date. Renewing is the action that requires agreement; stopping is not.
Neither party can change a past entry. Extending the date needs both to agree again.
- 01
The placement is agreed
Which pieces, what split, and a date. Two minutes of work at the moment when the relationship is easiest, which is the beginning.
- 02
The shop sells
Sales are recorded against the placement as they happen, so the tally is not reconstructed from memory a year later.
- 03
The date arrives
The placement lapses. Custody of unsold work reverts to the maker because the agreement expired, not because it was granted back.
- 04
Or it is renewed
Both parties agree again and the term extends. Continuing takes a decision. Stopping does not.
The shop is not disadvantaged by this. A shop that wants to keep selling asks to renew, which is a far easier conversation than a maker asking for their work back.
